Select/enter the state in the USA (scroll down option) in which the crime you are posting about occurred.
Select the correct Coded Crime numerical definition that equates to the tip or crime you are reporting -i.e. 459 = Alleged Burglary or Alleged Residential Burglary. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT, AS YOU DO NOT WANT TO FALSELY OR INCORRECTLY ALLEDGE AN OFFENSE IN YOUR POST .
Complete the coded message according to the rules below:
ONLY the first Initial or letter of the alleged suspect’s name and the FIRST THREE LETTERS of the alleged suspect’s name are allowed in the content of the message.
Next, you must fill in the five numbered postal zip code where the alleged crime occurred.
Next, you must fill in the alleged Victim’s form (ONLY if there is a victim column for the respective numerical coded crime.) NOT ALL CODED CRIME OFFENSES WILL ALLOW VICTIM INFORMATION. Due to the sensitive nature of some alleged crimes’ victims, only the first letter of the victim’s first name and the first letter of the victim’s last name will be allowed to be posted. Other Coded Crimes will allow for the first letter of the alleged victim’s name and the first three letters of the alleged victim’s last name. You must also enter the postal zip code of the alleged victim for the message to be posted.
NOTE: Coded Crime numerical 10000 ( MISSING PERSONS) is the ONLY Coded Crime message section where the posting rules of Coded Crime do not apply. In the Missing Persons’ message section, you can enter any characters or numbers (up to 500 characters) to explain your missing persons’ situation. You may also upload one .jpg file picture of the missing person in the post.
You must then go to the Coded Crime checkout section, select FREE or PREMIUM POST (for $5) then post your message for free or pay for a Premium post. Your message will then appear on the Coded Crime message board.
You will then see a message that your Coded Crime post is complete and now viewable on the Coded Crime message board. You may view your Coded Crime under the following categories: By State, numerical coded crime alleged offense or by zip code.
